New Net Metering Program Coming 2018 –

Canceled

Details Below

Net metering - send electricity generated from Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) to the grid

Receive credits for the electricity you add to the grid using net metering

Ontario residents can invest in solar PV for residential and businesses to reduce electricity cost and reduce green-house gas emissions

  • Solar Rebates Program is expected to launch Summer 2018 and will be delivered in connection with Ontario’s local hydro companies.

Not any more! Here is link to the details! HERE

  • All Ontario homeowners who live in an existing detached home, townhouse or semi-detached home are able to take part. The rebate is also available to homeowners of new custom built homes.
  • All businesses with facilities in Ontario (excludes publically owned facilities).
    • Program Incentives include: $1.00 Per Watt for Solar PV Systems, $1.50/Watt for Solar PV + Energy Storage, $3.00/Watt for Solar PV Off-Grid + Energy Storage Unfortunately is no longer happening
  • *approval of all Solar PV and storage rebates are subject to your local hydro company’s approval and other required inspections. A residential Solar PV project cannot exceed 10 kW (DC). A commercial Solar PV project cannot exceed 500 kW (DC). Other terms and conditions apply.
  • **estimated incentive only. Final incentive amount will vary based on collector performance, determined by the Testing Adjustment and Balance report. Total incentive value will not exceed 70% of the total installed system cost.

  • with a net-metered system you use the solar power you generate and any excess power goes onto the grid
  • for every kilowatt hour of power you export onto the grid you earn a credit allowing you to import a kilowatt hour of power from the grid
  • during the spring and summer you build up a large credit balance which will off-set your fall and winter consumption
  • if you generate as much power in a year as you consume, then the only charges you would receive from your Local Distribution Company would be the fixed portion of your electricity bill, the Distribution Service Charge and the Smart Metering Entity Charge
    • in high density urban areas, this charge totals almost $21 per month
    • in medium density areas it’s a little more than $28 per month
    • in low density areas it’s just over $42 per month
